GUIDE FOR SETTING UP MPG9 AND MPG10 ON A PoKeys55 USING MACH3

This unit comes with a PoKeys Core Board and an M2 - PoKeys 55 Motherboard:  is required.  Only the DB25 of the of the M2 is used.  It leaves available 4 expansion ports for additional function boards, such as: Keypads, LCD Displays, +24VDC logic I/O, or general I/O boards.

* These are the I/O functions selected for the Sample XML and Brain files.  Users can reassign these.  Before starting to set this up, download the brains compressed folder that contains the files for the brain you are using:

In this folder you will find:

- Sample XML file.

- PoKeys Configuration files (pkc):

- Brains.

 

Follow these steps:

STEP 1:  Make sure you got the latest Mach3 version installed.  Then download and install the PoKeys software program and then the latest plugin.  These two installation programs can be found here: http://www.poscope.com/product.php?pid=3 .

STEP 2: Connect the Pokeys device to a USB port, wait till the drivers are successfully installed.  Then run the Pokeys configuration program, and load the pkc file found in the brains folder.  Save this configuration to the PoKeys device.  I like to restart the PC at this time.  Make sure the pokeys does restart.

STEP 3: Run Mach3, go to Config / Plugins.  Make sure the plugin for the pokeys is enabled.  If it is not, and you need to enable it, you will need to restart mach3.

STEP 4: Go to Config / Ports&Pins/ Encoders & MPGs.  Configure the encoder as shown bellow:

STEP 5 Go to Config / Ports&Pins/ Input Signals and configure the OEM Triggers accordingly.

STEP 6 Go to Config / Ports&Pins/ Output  and configure the Output Signals accordingly.

STESTEP 7 Go to PlugIn Control / Pokeys Cfg and configure the plugin accordingly.

If using MPG10, configure also the matrix keypad and ULEDs:

STEP 8:  Copy the brains (extension .brn) found the compressed downloaded folder and copy them into the brains folder found in the Mach3 directory (C:\\Mach3\Brains directory.)

STEP 9:  Go to Operator / Brain Control and enable the brains you just copied.  Note that you will have two versions of E-Stop Brain, one is with Auto Enable RESET, and the other one will require hitting the RESET button in the screen.  Test each one, but select only one of them.

STEP 10:   At this point in Mach3, hit the TAB key to bring up the MPG menu.  You calibrate the MPG, play with it until you feel comfortable with how it works.

 

STEP 11: Configure the increment to be used under: Config / General Configuration.

STEP 12: Hit the CAL button to calibrate the pendant.
