I have it running using the AH-HA software now. I’ve got my new computer with Mach 3 loaded but haven’t wired up the breakout board yet. I bought a db37 cable and was going to cut one end off to wire to the breakout board and plug other to the AH-HA controller. Is that what you did?

Did you get your mill up and running yet with the upgrade? I have an ahha controller and upgraded to using mach3 with it over 2 years ago with very few issues since. I used a C10 board and the upgrade was fairly quick and simple.

Thanks for your help. I’ll look into replacing everything soon. Would be worth it to have better control.

Yes, you could use those drivers, but I could not support you on rewiring them, but I am sure there is plenty of info in the internet, and I will be there to answer questions for you. The other consideration is that the newere digital drivers may be able to drive those motors much nicer.

The mill has the original steppers. The ah-ha controller box seems to have the power supply and drivers all in one. Can I use the drivers in the control box or is it best to replace the drivers and all?

Dear Sir, Do you have one of those AH-Ha systems with the integrated stepper system? If so, I would suggest you consider replacing them with a breakout board and 8070D Drivers. Maybe the simplest solution may be to use a UC100 + C11G + 8070D Drivers: https://cnc4pc.com/uc100-usb-motion-controller.html https://cnc4pc.com/c11g-multifunction-cnc-board.html https://cnc4pc.com/8070d-digital-bipolar-stepper-motor-driver-32-bit-dsp.html For a more profesional upgrade with Ethernet connection, maybe the C76 may be a better option; https://cnc4pc.com/c76-uc300-multifunction-board.html Let me now if you have additional questions.

Im looking to upgrade my bridgeport boss from the existing AH-HA controller and artisan cnc software to MACH 3. I already have MACH 3 but need to know if i just need a breakout board and a newer pc or will i need to replace the AH-HA controller also? It is currently working and is using a parallel port from AH-HA controller to an old ms-dos computer.
